Woven Knitting

My Woven Knitting techniques are in development. They create a variety of fabrics. All the fabrics share the following properties:

  • the woven motif consists of cables creating an overlay on garter stitch fabric.
  • the cables will travel in one direction from one edge of the fabric to another.
  • the cable will remain the same colour as travels from one edge to another.
  • the cables are slipped stitches,
  • the cable instructions do not explicitly specify the colour to make the cable.

The designs to date have focused on introducing platforms on which to put a weave structure. Platforms vary in:

  • the number of colours used,
  • the width of the cables,
  • whether or not your work with a marl
  • is the design one-sided or reversible
  • and if a One Pass or Two Pass method is used (please watch this video).

What is One vs Two Pass Woven Knitting

The woven knitting patterns have a lot of similarities in their techniques. When watching the tutorials please check that you are using the ones for your specific pattern. The best way to find the tutorials for your pattern is to follow the links from the Woven Knitting Tutorials Page.
